The first volume was written in prison and published in 1925, the second was written by Hitler outside of prison and published in 1926.

The ideas proposed in Mein Kampf did not arise with Hitler, but come from theories and arguments then current in Europe.

It was common to give the book to newborn children, or as a wedding gift.
All students received it at their graduation.
