I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading – treading – till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through –
I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading – treading – till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through –
And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum –
Kept beating – beating – till I thought
My Mind was going numb –
And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul
With those same Boots of Lead, again,
Then Space – began to toll,
As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear,
And I, and Silence, some strange Race
Wrecked, solitary, here –
And then a Plank in Reason, broke,
And I dropped down, and down –
And hit a World, at every plunge,
And Finished knowing – then –
Eu senti um funeral no meu cérebro
E luto de um lado para o outro
Continuou pisando - pisando - até parecer
Esse sentimento estava rompendo -
E quando todos estavam sentados,
Um serviço, como um tambor -
Continuei batendo - batendo - até pensei
Minha mente estava ficando dormente
E então eu os ouvi levantar uma caixa
E estalar minha alma
Com essas mesmas botas de chumbo, novamente,
Então Space - começou a tocar,
Como todos os céus eram um sino,
E sendo, mas um ouvido,
E eu, e Silêncio, alguma raça estranha
Destruído, solitário, aqui -
E então uma prancha em razão quebrou,
E eu caí e desço -
E acertar um mundo, a cada mergulho,
E terminou sabendo - então -
